Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most.
The National Book Program, the oldest and largest of RIF’s programs, has distributed over 265 million books to children who need them most. Special literacy programs like Shared Beginnings and Family of Readers help educate parents about the importance of literacy in their homes. RIF events and contests are designed to motivate children and volunteers to make reading a central part of their lives, and to help whole communities celebrate the joy of reading.
