HAPPENING THIS MONTH

THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF SELF-PUBLISHING
Special Seminar with Sharon Goldinger

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2015
9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

If you’ve ever wondered about self-publishing—or the process of publishing in general—but weren’t sure where to get good answers, here’s your chance.

Whether you’re writing a helpful nonfiction work or a stunning genre novel, the publishing process involves the same elements: preparation of your manuscript, production of your book, and printing of your book—as well as potential problems.

In this seminar, you’ll get answers to these questions and many more:

• When do I need to get permission to quote someone and what is fair use?
• What is the difference between POD (print on demand) and offset printing?
• What is an ISBN and how do I get one?
• What are subsidy publishers and self-publishing service companies?
• What is the difference between content editing, copyediting, and proofreading?
• What are page proofs and galleys?
• Why and when do I need a marketing plan?
• What is an elevator speech?
• How do I get book reviews?
• What kind of social media marketing do I need to do?

You’ll also receive lots of information-packed handouts. In addition, we will have time for some individual evaluations of your book design (interior and cover) and help with your elevator speech and marketing plan.

For the best chance of success, you need information about how to self-publish properly. Attend this seminar to learn how to do it right: the mistakes to avoid, the questions you need to ask, and the steps you need to take to publish your own book.
